morning all I have just been informed that I have to have a biopsy on Friday morning an ultrasounded guided core biopsy two breast lesions and a fine needle asoriate f a lymph node to say I am petrified is an understatement what can I expect I'm so overwhelmed at the moment cannot sleep and we have our business so trying to stay positive and happy at the same time

Morning ! ok soooo the plan of attack (so to speak)is I have to small cancers one near the nipple and one just beside it which are primaries ! good thing , nothing in the nodes or what ever you call them so another plus there BUT have chosen to have mystectomy which will happen next Tuesday morning (which is my choice) has they said it could have the lumps just removed but because of where they I'm going to lose half the breast anyway and with the family history that I have they recommended I have the whole breast off of which I'm doing ! they even said that I may not have to have any chemo but they will decide that when they operate as they have caught it early or in there lingo "early breast cancer" have a fantastic surgeon who was extremely positive so that put my mind at rest so onwards and upwards just get these B!@#$ches out and little treatment and then go from there :D

Hi @LeaF. I have had both. Firstly the staff who do these things are extraordinary people who will do their utmost to put you at ease whilst they do their work.I had my core biopsy at Breast Screen - I have never felt safer in my life nor more protected.I had some sort of local anaesthetic before the core biopsy was done . I felt a little pressure but no pain -mine was lobular and deep on the breast bone above my heart.You have to be very still , the needle is guided by ultrasound by a highly skilled specialist with a team of nurses and another doctor helping out. Mine was done about 5/6 times - did I enjoy it no , did it hurt no - I was scared but felt cocooned with kindness and very safe. I also had a fine needle biopsy because of an inverted nipple late last year - it stung a little going in but was not too bad.There is no anaesthetic given I guess as the needle is very fine compared to that used in the core biopsy.You will be ok and you will get thru the procedures.Waiting for results is stressful . Try to take someone with you for the procedures to provide moral support.

@LeaF So good to hear you have your plan in place!! One step at a time. I am very proud of you making that decision & it sounds like the right one for you. That is the thing to remember, one plan isn't the same for everyone as we are all different & have different size cancers in different spots & with varying degrees of "danger". My DCIS cancer was low in my breast & even though it was invasive, my surgeon wanted to just do a lumpectomy & then she took tissue from below my breast to fill in the gap. I am small breasted too but both boobs look the same after the wonderful job she did. At least you have taken away any risk by having a mastectomy & if you have family history, then definitely the right decision. take one step at a time & focus on your surgery now & don't worry about what may happen after. We need to get you through next Tuesday & tick off that box. Try to stay positive this week, get some exercise, eat well & unless you have some good cooks around you, prepare some frozen meals as they come in handy when yo come home after surgery. Relax, sleep & take care of yourself this week. I still sleep with my pink pillow, it's the best thing to cuddle at night. Take care & stay strong & positive. Hugs xxxx

Spent the day with Breast Cancer nurses and having arms measured etc etc which was something I had no idea about LOL, even got a little arm pillow with PinkFlamingos all over which is pretty cute :p

In the scheme of things, great news. You've got a starting point now, and not long to wait until surgery, so that's good too

i remember feeling like I got a bit of control back once some decisions were made. I also chose a mastectomy (with immediate silicone implant) as I’m only small and wouldn’t have had much left after a lumpectomy! You are almost there - a few more days until those little bitches are out of you!! Sending a hug, Jane x

Everyone on here is wonderful ! I love the positivity with everyone and the support <3 and you are so right now that I know what going on and what the plan is your right is comforting strangely enough :D
