I am a very small A cup breast size and told today I need a masectomy due to multiple cancers in the one breast on Monday! Freaking out a little and wondering if anyone here has had a flat closure and kept their nipple? Is it an option?
I’m so sorry to hear this TM, it’s so confronting to be be told that you’re losing a boob. I have no idea if you can have a flat closure and keep the nipple, it’s not something I even considered asking! But a great question that hopefully someone can answer. I’m ten days post surgery, with a left mastectomy and right lumpectomy. I have small breasts too and I’ve decided to stay flat on my mastectomy side.
Write any of the questions you have in a notebook and take it to your appointments so you remember what to ask. I had quite a long list when I saw my surgeon, and more later that I had to email! The breast cancer nurses are fantastic and it’s well worth a chat with them too.
