Disappointed in The Beacon's name change
Hi All
It's been a long time since I posted. I've been thinking about this, and watching to see if anyone else commented on this. I don't know if somewhere along the way I've missed something. Was there discussion or consultaion about the name change to Pink Lady? I feel that it's diappointing, and disrespectful to our male members, after all, men do get breast cancer too, And as an organisation, I thought the aim was to be more inclusive, not less.

It makes me wonder who you have consulted as the ladies who have responded are not impressed.
Whilst we all say that BCNA is the very best organization, this name change is distressing to many, especially to the lesser-known male members. - @Giovanna_BCNA

Great to get your feedback and yes I can enlighten you regarding the Beacon magazine name change.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and comments that have been posted in the online forum. As you all know we are always keen to hear from our members and your feedback regarding the name change has been forwarded to our communications team. I understand that there has been consultation with our members regarding the proposed changes and I will keep you all updated regarding any new developments. There is a Lighthouse Foundation (for homelessness). Tricky stuff, names!

We'd love to hear what you think about The Beacon. Please send us any feedback to [email protected].- Maybe call it “The Lighhouse”. becase it’s a light that guides us through the darkness that is breast cancer. It it’s probably too similar to the beacon though I was going to say it should be called “big hairy balls” as that’s what you need to get through this male or female. Margie xx
