Coming off HRT for Breast surgery

Since my diagnozes Ive done cold turkey on HRT tablets.

Do i see my endocrinologist before my operation? or speak with my gp to help?

what can I do or what is other peoples experiences?

  • I came off cold turkey too. It wasn't as bad as i expected. I was 61, so maybe had got further through menopause. But since starting Aromatase Inhibitors, I have hot flushes again. some weeks are better than others. There  are a few drug options if you are going down that path. Not everything works  for everyone. I have continued throughout with vaginal estrogen. This isn't recommended for everyone, but there was a discussion with my Gynecologist, Breast Surgeon and Oncologist and me. Our vaginas can get dry and fragile with age and AI drugs. I don't know if this helps. Are you having any other treatment for your BC?

thank you Abby I appreciate you reaching out. A bit slow on the replies.

I will speak with Dr Sonia Davison about this once i know results from MRI Biopsy on 28/8 & results from Breast surgeon DR Sarah Kaye on 1st september.

      Vagina does get itch &

      dry.

  • I was self-medicating my perimenopause with soy products, which I've now stopped since diagnosed. Now my joint pain is back. Brain fog not too bad yet but it hasn't been long. I'm just hoping for a double mastectomy. This may not help you though. I've read that there are some forms of HRT that you can take with breast cancer. Maybe ask GP.
