Dear @EllaD99
I formally retired last October, after a period of long service leave. A funny year for it but I seem to have adjusted pretty well. I’m doing new things, enjoying myself and spending more time doing what I enjoy rather than what is required! Mind you my diagnosis was eight years ago, so I am in the happy position of knowing there is a future after the unpleasant news! And it’s been a really good eight years too.
I haven’t suffered from depression but it’s not unusual after a cancer diagnosis. And you have had the condition for some years. So you may
need some really focussed support. You know your prognosis is good, which helps a lot but even so, don’t let anxiety get in the way of your recovery. This is not the best time to soldier on - make sure you have the help and assistance you need for your emotional health as well as your physical health. Best wishes.
