👣 CanSTEP Study – Share Your Views! (Sydney/Brisbane/Adelaide Residents)

Are you a cancer survivor living with tingling, numbness, or burning pain after chemotherapy?

Researchers want to know: Can fun stepping games help reduce these symptoms and improve your quality of life?

Join the CanSTEP study – a 6-month research project by Prince of Wales Hospital and Neuroscience Research Australia.

What’s involved?
✔ Home-based step training using a wireless mat (just 80–120 mins/week for 16 weeks)
✔ Questionnaires & assessments on symptoms, balance, and cognition
✔ Random allocation to training or usual care (with option for training later)

Who can join?
✅ 18+ years old
✅ Living in Sydney, Brisbane, or Adelaide
✅ Finished chemo at least 6 months ago
✅ Experiencing neuropathy symptoms affecting walking
✅ Able to walk 10m without an aid
✅ Have internet access

  •  Good to know they are still recruiting  so I can reshare on FB. Back in Jan I added the video, the brochure ,poster and various pdf documentation, converted to images , as a FB post-

  • I start on the 7th January wearing a watch then a home visit on the 15th. I hope this is successful not sure which side if the trial I’ll be on but the results I’m hoping will have some sort of positive effect on peripheral neuropathy. And the struggles that come with it

  • Email sent off. It will be interesting to see if I am selected. 
    the results i hope will be positive there not much we can do when we have peripheral neuropathy and its side effects.  
    the tie is numb so thats a blessing in disguise. Its not broken I can still move it.  Now just to work out where the other body bruises came from. Haha

        Just got email back. Will take it tomorrow when I get see oncologist. Just to make sure she is okay with it.

      😆😆😆 cranky_granny​ I can relate! I swear my bed is getting bigger everyday - there is no other explanation why I keep colliding with the corners!! Hope your toe and other bruises feel better soon :)

        The newest one on my calf is huge and very  black and green. Oh well it will eventually go yellow and fade away. At least i can feel this one just dont know how i did  it.

      Hi Tri​ , thanks for your interest! At the moment these researchers have directed they are looking for people in Sydney, Brisbane, or Adelaide. I've just reached out to see if there are any plans to extend this, or if there's another study for Victorians to participate in and will let you know if there's an opportunity :)

  • I’m interested. Perfect timing just kicked my toe and thought wow that didn’t hurt then I looked at my little toe its already started to bruise whoops need better balance thats for sure
