Update following DIEP flap reconstruction

Hi Everyone,

Just an update on my recovery from DIEP flap reconstruction, I'm now 2 and a half weeks post surgery and think that I'm not doing too bad at the moment.

Had a chest drain and 2 abdominal drains along with a catheter. Chest drain came out day 3, and oh that shower, awesome. Dressings down and abdominal drains out day 5. Made sure that I was up walking around from day 3, and it was making me feel a bit brighter. Had a talk with my surgeon about my pain relief, as I did not want to be spaced out, but wanted to manage my pain and still be able to exercise as needed. He put me on Targin twice a day with panadol osteo 3 times a day, and this worked well, except for interfering with my plumbing (needed some help there unfortunately) Discharged to home day 6 and so happy to be home again.

Saw my surgeon for a 2 week review last Thursday, all wounds healing well, except for a little moist patch on the abdominal wound. It's not infected, just had a couple of random stitches in the way. Just a dry dressing on that until it dries up, then micro pore tape to protect the wound. The graft has taken well, and my new breast is healing well, softening every day.

I have to wear a compression bra and girdle 24/7 until further notice. Still sleeping on the recliner in the lounge as that's where I'm most comfortable. It gets better every day.

Sending you all a big cuddle, Trace ??????????
