Thanks for your comments. At home since yesterday (sat, 20th june). It has been a long week in hospital. Very sore to move around, but taking pain relief as required.

Thanks for your comments. I had a few hot flushes, in fact i thought i was going through the change!! lOL. Im back at home now but still quite sore and uncomfortable. You dont really realise what your abdominal  muscles do until something like this happens. In fact someone commented on the abdominal wound being like after having had a caeserian section! haha...but i replied i had no baby for it!

What a long week it has been! Had surgery on the Friday afternoon (admitted around 11 am, surgery was around 1.30 pm, recovery i think round 8-8.30pm, ward 11 pm)...long day. Arrived home yesterday (sat 20th june/surgery friday 12th june). Breast a little swollen and sore, but its the abdomen that is most sore and uncomfortable. I had a TRAM FLAP recontruction and the wound/scar is from one side to the other - this i did not realise! I suppose you dont really realise what your abdominal muscles do until something like this happens...you cant walk a long way, it hurts generally, you shufle along like an old person (haha) and restricted in lifting and carrying things..eek.

Do you think that lying on my side would be okay? Its uncomfortable lying on your back.

Hi Carmel.

Yes, the room was kept at a higher temperature because of the flap but they ended up putting a fan in after about 4 days becuse i was getting too hot and uncomfortable. After my last drain was removed, I felt more freer and able to get up or more walks, but still felt that i was walking like an old woman! haha

I am finally at home but having trouble sleeping a little being on my back. Want to sleep on my right side which i normally do.

Many thanks for your comments. I had a TRAM FLAP reconstruction and the wound/scar is from side to the other. After about 4 days the nurses put in a fan in my room (not directly on me though) just to cool it a little and i was getting overly hot and hyperventilating (becoming out of breath).

Now at home, trying to take it easy...but having trouble sleeping though on my back.  It should be okay to sleep on my side now shouldnt it? Its being 9 days...

Hi Rachel hope all went well, if in pain take the pain killers. The warm room has to do with helping the healing process. When I was in it was so hot and the hot flushes it was alot of fun.
