I'm having a single mastectomy and reconstruction in a few months, but I have a Surgeon and Plastic Surgeon as am having a diep flap recon. My surgeon works through private and public as well so he and my plastic surgeon organised through Royal Melbourne Hospital. I dont see why you can't go back to your Surgeon who did the Mastectomy, that's what I'd do for sure, and ask for another recommendation and take it from there.
