I was in your position about 18 months ago when they discovered I had DCIS in one of my breasts. Upon advice from the breast surgeon and genetics counsellor, opted for bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. I recently celebrated my 1 year anniversary from my surgery to put in the implants.
without private healthcare I probably wouldn't have gone through the private system. But the benefit was that I had all of my surgeries completed within 4 months.
