  • Hi Sandshoes,

Welcome to the Online Network. Both Georgina and Jane have mentioned groups that you can join that will be able to provide you with the support you are looking for.

We have a section on Treatment on our website which will provide you with some information, as well Breast Reconstruction.

We are here to support you so ask as many questions as you need to and remember to always speak with your medical team.

If you need any assistance with the Online Network please just let me know.

  • Hi, welcome to the network and I hope you find the support you need here.

I am one of the Facilitators for the Breast Reconstruction group on this site. We would be happy for you to join the group - just request to join with a brief message about why you'd like to be part of the group: breast-reconstruction-online-group One of the current topics being discussed is about having implants after radiation. There are also other options for reconstruction after radiation such as tissue transfer from the stomach or other areas to create a new breast. This was the type I had after I had radiation.

It's really important to understand all the options you may have so I would also recommend checking out the Reclaim Your Curves website: reclaimyourcurves.org.au, which has lots of information and fact sheets about the various choices available in Australia. The Facebook group attached to Reclaim Your Curves is also a fabulous, supportive space for women to share and support one another so feel free to request to join: RYC connect

Quite a number of women who have had radiation have gone on to have successful reconstructions, so please don't feel like this is out of the question - it definitely isn't!

Hope to see you in one or both groups soon! Cheers, Jane xx

  • Welcome to the network, even if is because you too received this awful diagnosis.  There is a closed group on Fqcebook 'Reclaim Your Curves' in which women answer all and any questions about their breast reconstructions, many sharing pictures, as I did.  You need to apply to join it, as it is only for women in this situation.  I very highly recommend it.  Just search for the name on Google.
