Hi Helen1951 I had a skin sparing mastectomy with immediate implant recon in 2011. Unfortunately it was decided when I was halfway through chemo that radiation would be a good idea. This caused bad contracture of the muscle & scar tissue. I have actually had my implant replaced I think three times in various surgeries ......all due to contracture & wound healing issues. The actual implant replacement was not a huge issue for me, my problem is contracture. I had scar tissue removed .....the scar capsule that forms around the implant that had contracted. The implant I have now is one that discourages the scar tissue & I'm sorry I can't think of what the difference is, possibly it had something to do with the outside of the implant(?) .......somebody may know. I am happy to answer any questions.
