Enlarged Lymph nodes

Interested to see if anyone has a similar thing after revision surgery. I have had two surgeries recently, one in March to reduce to non cancer side & revision on BC side; then another in June to repair some non healing on the BC side !! The second surgery was actually a Lat Dorsi reconstruction (repair work at this stage) because of an open wound. Sadly this is still the case six weeks after the surgery. I have two bits that aren't healed, one in the inframammary fold on the lower edge of the flap & the larger one (about 5cm) on the upper edge of the flap. On radiated skin !  I had a bit of a reaction to being on antibiotics for 3 weeks; oral thrush, rash all over, & diarrhea. Today I went for my check up with my oncologist & she is concentrating too hard on my BC side armpit. I had already noticed I had some lumpiness since the surgery. I thought it was because they cut under the armpit during the operation, & the binder being so tight gave me some wounds under the arm as well. These have all healed quite well now & I thought the lumpiness was subsiding. She asks about a particularly large node..... how long etc. I said it was very lumpy under there since the surgery with the cut & other wounds but it is settling down. So she made me promise to get it looked at if possible before I go on a very long trip next thursday ......or at the very least when I return. Fine will do that...... surgeon is on holidays at the moment & only one more clinic before I go so will talk to the secretary & see if she will squeeze me in.

Onc was ok with the fact that I was heading to the outback for about 3 months & the possibility that I wasn't going to get into surgeon before I go. Seriously...... if she really thought it was something nasty she would have been a little more insistent.......surely ???

Have any of you had nodes come up after a surgery, if so, did they disappear again.....or not.

  • By the way, where a outs in the outback are you headed? I'm jealous. Lived in Alice Springs for a number of years in the 90's. A beautiful part of the world, Lyn

  • Hi, I haven't had surgery yet, but possibly, if these nodes have only come up since surgery and infection, maybe they are related to that. Particularly if you think they are starting to settle. Having said that, if they don't continue to settle, you probably should get them checked out.

    take care, Lyn
