Diep Flap
I wanted to post a positive experience about having a reconstruction done via diep flap. I had a lumpectomy where the lower portion - a good portion - of my right breast was removed in April 2010. ...
It is a scary time before your op. I was really paranoid. That is natural. And it's a big op especially when you are going for a second dose. Speak to your doctor. Mine was very reassuring and I think as the time got closer I knew I had to trust him and hope and pray for the best. It is a very difficult time after the op. You have had a very long time under anaethestic and you don't get much sleep (no continuous sleep) for the first four or five days. That makes it hard. But really the end result for a week of helplessness is really worth it. I am now two years out and it has made a big difference to me. It has helped me forget the fact that I had cancer as every time I shower or dress I don't look at a shrivelled up capsicum where my boob used to be. I hope it goes well for you. Be positive but voice your fears to someone - family or friend - as this will help you work it out. Take care.
