So glad all these descriptions helped you! No worries at all about 'being under' for so long. I was worried too but I had absolutely no side effects and was awake in the ward about 30mins later! They monitor you so well nowadays that they only give enough anaesthetic to keep you under and towards the end of the op they lighten it so you come out easily.
The pain is all managed well so not bad at all. It's mainly the limitations you have. You can't bend, turn, stretch for things etc. Sleeping on your side is hard for about 4 weeks. That's the difficult, sore part. Painkillers work! Just don't have too much morphine like I did!
