Diep Flap

Although the operation is huge and recovery long I am so glad I did this. My breasts are becoming better every day as the swelling goes and incisions heal. I have a cleavage and nice fullness above the bra line now. I feel so confident in my clothes now, especially with the flat tummy! It's 4 weeks now since my double Diep and I thank God every day for my wonderful surgeon who helped me reclaim my self image. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to have a bilateral mastectomy and then double Diep at the same time though. I have had no major problems but I believe risks increase if you do both at the same time. It's too much for the body to cope with. Especially if you have to go on and have Chemo and radiation. I could never have coped!! I waited about a year which was good healing time after my mastectomy and treatment. Good luck Louise. If you want another opinion I'd recommend Dr Pennington. He's in Macquarie St but does the procedure at Macquarie and Strathfield Hospitals. Only private patients.
