  • Hi Netba113 I felt the same way. I hid it all from my work colleagues and hated seeing myself naked. I have subsequently had a prophylactic mastectomy on my LHS and it feels so much more 'normal' although it's really not!!! I guess it's just easier to hide and now that my colleagues believe I've had a double mastectomy, it also feels better - I hated the whole pretence of feeling ok at work during chemo and only having one breast. I am scheduled to have a LD reconstruction on Nov 6 so it hasn't been too long to wait but I know that's it's the start of a long process. Seriously, this disease has taken 5 years out of the prime of my life. I'm still in my forties. I too have slowed down when it comes to going out and, dare I say it, even feel old - hate that!!!! But I keep young in my head and exercise regularly and that helps a lot. You're not alone and I hope you get as much support from this site as I have. Alex xx
  • Hi Chris, thanks for your mesage here. Look out for the response to your meeting request which will have some tips for navigating the site etc. Any probs just give me a shout.

    Cheers Louie

  • Hi Ladies, I am waiting to have a bilateral masectomy, might have to have radiation?
  • Hi Netba113, you are not alone in feeling that way. It is a tremendously difficult adjustment to lose a breast and I image it is even more difficult when you are left with just the one.

Chemo is a tough time and perhaps its a good idea to focus on that for now.

For many people breast reconstruction can restore the feeling of femininity again. If that is something you want to explore you are more than welcome to join this group. There are now more than 400 women sharing and supporting each other.

Just follow this link and request membership leaving a short message about how we can help you. http://www.bcna.org.au/group/61026

    All the best, Louise

I have just started my chemo(19 June) n I have virtually stopped going out. I don't know what I really want anymore, just want my life back again n need to talk to people whose been in the same place. Thank u
