Bra advice after breast recon and reduction.
Hi everyone,
I would love some advice about bras . After my revision surgery 3 weeks ago ( no 8 surgery in total over the last two years) I have one recon breast and the other that was reduced in size. In this last surgery the reduced breast did not go to plan and I have a small skin graft below the nipple. But they are of similar size, although smaller than anticipated because of problems such as necrosis/ infection etc. So any ideas re brand/ type of bra? Obviously it has to be non wire as all my scaring is underneath and a lot of fat/tissue on the sides of the breasts need to be held in place.
thanks
Carol from Canberra

This is the bra I was fitted with post surgery, I found the berlei bra too tight across my reconstruction which is all under breast. It is not too expensive. The site has many other nice soft bras and pockets so if needing to even up sides etc. You can. I ordered a heap post surgery as I couldn't find anything else as comfortable.

Berlei, which is a supporter of BCNA, has a post-surgery bra. And it's on sale :-)

Hi! My physio commented that a soft bra is appropriate for a recon breast.

I'm still undergoing recon but have found the front closure soft bras pretty good and also wear a Target aah type bra which has a thin strap...so I can wear strappy dresses. Both my breasts are recon so they don't require much support. You can buy a moulded wire free sports bra...many are quite pretty and might be good during healing. I struggle with tight bras due to my large underbreast scar and sewn in dermal sling. ...hope to be able to wear a normal bra one day. Kath
