Bra advice after breast recon and reduction.

Hi everyone,

I would love some advice about bras . After my revision surgery  3 weeks ago ( no 8 surgery in total over the last two years) I have one recon breast and the other that was reduced in size. In this last surgery the reduced breast did not go to plan  and I have a small skin graft below the nipple. But they are of similar size, although smaller than anticipated because of problems such as necrosis/ infection etc. So any ideas re brand/ type of bra? Obviously it has to be non wire as all my scaring is underneath and a lot of fat/tissue on the sides of the breasts need to be held in place.

thanks

  • Hi!  My physio commented that a soft bra is appropriate for a recon breast.

  • I'm  still undergoing recon but have found the front closure soft bras pretty good and also wear a Target aah type bra which has a thin strap...so I can wear strappy dresses. Both my breasts are recon so they don't  require much support. You can buy a moulded wire free sports bra...many are quite pretty and might be good during healing.  I struggle with tight bras due to my large underbreast scar and sewn in dermal sling. ...hope to be able to wear a normal bra one day.
