Afternoon everyone today it is 2 years since my mastectomy and reconstruction on my left breast.This time 2 years ago I was still in surgery. I look at my breasts now and think it has been a long trip, scars are fading and I'm happy with how they look. Time helps to heal my body and mind, yes I'm changed forever from this whole trip, some for the better and some changes I don't like. Life is good work not the best but sometimes we all struggle with work. Everyday I get up and give thanks that I'm here, wishing you all a good dayxx

All credit to you darlin, what a long haul for you. There are so many achievements that go with this rotten C, stay positive so you can continue the good work for your future. Hey Rowdy Great to hear your post. You answered me at times when life was too hard. You do stop thinking of cancer every minute of every day. you get used to the various side effects - the new you - you mourn for the old you less and less. You stress at the (for me) 6 monthly onc appt - annual mammo, u/s and that old feeling of. "'It wont happen to me" ..returns. The mind is a powerful thing, just can't let it think to deep or long, keep busy, keep smiling. Any chance of reducing or changing your work load. Think maybe you were like me, currently can't change, but at least you celebrated end of treatment with a hol - still waiting for my promised one!!! 2015 finished treatment (hercepton) worked all the way through 6 mnths chemo 6 weeks radio with 3 weeks total off work.... I want a bl ... y holiday and its been postponed again. grrrrr Big hugs Pam

Hi what a nice post to read. So happy for your achievements. Nice to know there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck in the future and you have made me feel better after having surgery last week. Time will heal and our scars will fade. This place here really helps us when we feel a bit scared or sad or anxious. Just knowing others have been down a path makes it a bit easier. Hope your work situation improves .it was a good day. The sun was shining earlier until the wind blew in .my yellow daffodils were blowing in the wind and all the little birds were chattering. Spring is on its way.. X

Hey you :) CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Huge milestone, well done you. You have come so far and you are right we all change after our diagnosis. As you say some good and some not so good. Sorry work is not great, but as you say that can be just work!! Thankyou for all the support you give to so many ladies on here, I am sure they are all very thankful to have your words of wisdom. Yes it is a long trip with lots of ups and downs. You will get there and good luck with your choice to have reconstruction. Hang in there with chemo look after yourself xx

A light at the end of the tunnel! After 2 ops which included a left mastectomy I have had my first chemo on Friday. To hear that you've come through the other side was so good to hear. I've been told at the end of it all I will be able to get a reconstruction so you've given me something to hang on to.

Hi I worked during chemo it was hard, I look back now and not sure how I did it. Just took it 1 day at a time and if I wasn't well enough I didn't go in, I had a very understanding boss Good luck with your treatment xx.

Thanks this site has helped me, people here understand what it means to get to each milestone. When I mentioned this to my husband his reponse was do you have to relate everything to your bc. My reply was yes I do as I have had a piece of my body taken from me, I'm sure if he had a piece of his body taken he would feel the same. He just dosen't get it.xx

Hi yes I have had my nipple tattoed, at first I thought I wouldn't have it done but my PS said I have to finish the job. I'm really glad I did, it was right for me but not everyone makes this choice. I had tramflap and mine haven't changed as I'm still carrying extra weight. Yep I can stand seeing my PS lovely smile xx
