Feels Like an Elephant sittin on my chest

Hi girlz, got thru ok, but i wish this elephant would get up off my chest, even after the assortment of pain killers they are giving me i cannot shake the ache. The nurses here are good though but for the life of me i cannot get more than an hour or so sleep without waking up with the random hospital noises and the loud ticking clock up on my wall (if only i could grab it off the wall myself if i could it would be getting drowned in the sink right now). Well i shall try and attempt to get more sleep, Wishing everyone sunshine, happyness and health (where possible).

  • Evening,

The removal of my drains was not too bad, although i had to keep harrassing the nurses to remind them to do it......... 4 hours later than they were supposed to they came out, not as painful as I thought it would be and it was so good to go for a walk without those awful bags of blood and crap tagging along. It is amazing what the threat of an enima will do!! 4pm today they finally got their long awaited elusive poop! I have never had an enima and never intend to ever have an enima :) it also could of been the half a container of pitted prunes I engulfed.

    Take care

  • Hi Kim

I hope everything went well with taking out the drains. When I was in hospital they told me for 3 days in a row that "the drain can come out tomorrow"

I found it made a bit of variety sometimes sitting in my chair & sometimes in the bed. Oh, the excitement of a tiny choice!

Good luck also with the pooping :-)

  • My drains are comming out after lunch, i have also found the chair to be more comfortable than the bed, i am finding it amusing that the question of choice is 'have you pooped yet?', which is still No. Managed to wander around a bit , small hospital so not far to wander and not able to get lost. There was talk of sending me home today, by nurses but not my doctor, which now is a big No as Dave (my husband, we are separated but still live together........he is like a brother or best friend) is sick. Oh well I shall spend my time waiting to do the elusive poo and reading (when my mind can stay on the page and not wander off into the fog.

Take Care everyone, thanks for letting me babble a bit.

    Hi Kim

Glad to hear you got thru ok.  Keep up the pain killers - don't wait till the pain gets bad - they should also help you with sleep.  Hospitals are such noisy places, I left my tv on as that noise was better than the trolleys, bells, nurses talking etc.

    Take care and keep smiling
