Tribute Field of Women, Sydney
Last week in Sydney - BCNA staff and volunteers planted 15,000 pink silhouettes, representing the women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year; 2,700 white silhouettes in tribute to the incredible women who will lose their life to breast cancer this year; and 125 blue silhouettes representing the men diagnosed with breast cancer.
The ceremony held on Saturday brought together support groups, members, family and friends in a very special tribute. With great music and speeches from CEO Maxine Morand, Founder Lyn Swinburne and two-time survivor Megan James – it was a lovely hour.

It was hard to believe that 15 years ago when BCNA was launched with a Field of Women on the lawns of Parliament House that we would sadly have grown from 10,000 pink silhouettes to 15,000.
For us, the importance and impact of our Tribute Field of Women came from seeing our members with their families and friends stroll through the messages. There were moments of joy as members found messages from years ago and then plenty of reflection for the memorable women who we have lost.
Thank you to all those who came and joined us for the event – we hope you enjoy the images as much as we do.
