Well, yesterday I got a bugger of a phone call from the doctor to give me the news....the shock was the worst, who expects this...no one... no matter what is going on in the back of your mind...you just don't.At this stage I have limited knowledge of what's going on and what stage everything is at...to be honest when the Doc called and he said, "sorry I have bad news and you have cancer"....all I heard after that was "bla...bla...bla".   So a couple of calls later and then an appointment with my GP who has been amazing, by Monday afternoon I should be somewhat wiser and booked in for whatever the next step is.Hardest part is seeing the look on my husband's and myh two gorgeous girls faces and making sure they feel OK and try to help them deal with it.Anyway mixed feelings going on right now so hopefully will feel more at ease come Monday.

I don't think any of us ever forget that you have cancer day,it's the biggest hole anyone can put into your gut, but we get through it somehow. I'm 10 months down the track, and last Friday had my first all clear scans, but I will never forget those first days All I can say is welcome to our gang . And what great women you will talk to,as I myself did. Regards adean

It has been a long weekend, but a round of golf and family time has helped pass the time.  Can't wait now for the next step...just feel like I need to get on with it.  I sat down on Saturday morning and called my close friends and spoke to family at length, just more so to let them know I was fine and positive and not to worry too much until we know more.I've started telling most people, more so as I don't want them to hear "Oh did you hear about Sally" from others and also if it makes one person go and get a check then it's a good thing. Thanks and look forward to chatting more soon.Sal

    Hi Sally,

Its Tuesday and I just read your post, hope all went well for you yesterday, I also have 2 daughters and wonderful husband, its a journey the whole family take. I have done the journey twice now and beleive me its hard, but this support network is the most amazing source of on line friendship, help and everyone is so open to share their personal stories, good times and bad. The BCNA has been a godsend for me with the My Journey kit, and the online Co ordinators. Stay positive, take someone to your medical appointments and no question is a silly question, sound like you have a beautiful family and you will get through this together. Best Wishes Tracey

Well with Monday came the good news that they believe they got it early and they didn't need to go in and do a core, so yippee golf on Wednesday.I made the executive decision to pull out of netball coaching for the short term, telling the girls last night was OK actually, I put a smile on my face, told them that I was fine and that they should always check themselves and get a test if they are in doubt.  Today I went to work and did the same thing. The breast care nurse contacted me today and I went and saw her, Heather was lovely and very up front about everything giving me some resource material for myself and the kids.  Surgeons on Thursday hopefully to get the date for the op...then I'll have some more direction after that.Thank you all for your support and kind wishes it is so wonderful to have such support from some amazingly strong women.Enjoy your week and good luck no matter what you have on.CheersSally

    Hi Sally,

You have a very positive attitude and a loving, supporting family and that is such a boon. All the best with the surgeon's visit and keep remembering that everyone on here will be thinking of you and wishing you all the best. A support group is essential and your family seem to be fitting the bill perfectly.

    Keep strong,

    Lynne

Hi Sal,Great news they have caught it early. Your surgeon will probably make you do a heap more scans and blood test before the operation. My week after being told. I had bloods, core biopsy (which you said didn't need) CT, Bones scan, MRI. I found it good to have them all even though thought OMG but it kept me busy and they need to know what they are really dealing with. The day of my surgery I also had a scan to show where the blood flow was going through my Lymph nodes but I had a left mastectomy. You may just have the lump out.Good luck with thursday.Vanessa xx
