I was shocked to read in the paper today that next month the government will slash by 86% the price it pays for Paclitaxel/Taxol.

This comes after slashing the price it pays for Docetaxel by 76% in December.

They say it is because for years pharmacists have been overcharging up to $2800 per dose.

Now, a number of hospitals and regional cancer centres will have to cap their patient numbers or close completely unless the patient pays.

Where does this leave cancer patients - especially tnbc patients, who rely on Taxol as a major part of their treatment??

Obviously they don't have breast cancer in their families. Apparently cutting Taxcol will save $145 million per year. At what cost? Unbelievable!
