i can't believe it

Hi girls,

I'm so upset as it turns out the antidepressant that the "breast cancer" psychiatrist put me on interacts with the tamoxifen and reduces it's effect. Explains the return of a normal period and no hot flushes, increased energy etc. Now i have to change again - which for me is a big deal as ever since i had an anaphylactic reaction to chemo i am hospitalised for med changes. I'm over all the hormonal stuff and i haven't even got to the zoladex yet. AGGGHHHH!

  • Have done med changes which were no fun but i'm finally feeling less sedated in the day time. However i'm pretty annoyed with the psychaitrist that i had been seeing. She has not returned any calls or replied to any e-mails from my GP or the mental health nurse that i see locally. They have had to source advice from the visiting psychiatrist - not really good enough as far as i can see. Working as a health professional and being a patient for an extended period is eye opening to say the least. Not sure how you justify prescribing a medication that reduces the effectiveness of tamoxifen - especially when i asked that question prior to the medication change and then not being contactable for follow up medication advice. Crossing her off my team!
