I didn’t know enough to go into detail before my mastectomy - just one, as planned and discussed. My surgeon afterwards remarked he’d ‘left me a little baggy’ in order to facilitate reconstruction should I wish to do so, also not discussed prior given my reluctance about reconstruction and his wish to have a full recovery first. Once or twice I have wondered if I should have it tidied up, given I am quite definitely staying flat, and my surgeon would happily do it, but it provides just the tiniest amount of what is almost cleavage! Nevertheless I’d do so in a flash if I felt upset about it. I don’t, I am old enough and confident enough to accept my body with its record of use. But a more aesthetic closure is a perfectly reasonable outcome. Best wishes.
