Hi,

Has anyone found a pretty bralette for larger sizes. Im 16+.

Im a bit tired of sports bra. Not ready for prosthetics so those bras are out. Ive sometimes resorted to the utilitarian do up front mastectomy bra. Meh. I can sometimes get away with a pretty camisole but one side of my chest swing about a bit. Not ideal for social occassions.

I bought a bonds one which is ok. Where are the pretty ones? A walk in Bras and Things is pretty pointless. Where are the mastectomy bras in there? Call themselves a bra specialist....

Ok so this is not the most pressing problem. Still

I am with you @MicheleR.  I too have resorted to the 'do up front but no shape things' as the local bra fitting specialist shop just won't get any stock in (think she is nearing retirement) !  I have hunted high and low for a pretty camisole to use with my prosthesis but they are not around that I can find.  I am about to try the internet but sizes can vary soooooo much .....  Let us know if you find anything.

    Hi @June1952 ,

There are some nice camisoles around but as you say no support in them. Maybe i'll attempt to sew a cup in one side.

I just have 1 boob i havent given up living yet! Why shouldnt i have pretty underwear?

Thanks @Locksley. I just downloaded a sewing pattern, maybe ill fiddle around to try and sew a soft bra. Im having trouble with the band around the bottom with normal style bras, they ride up painfully. Id like something in a colour other than brown too.

I bought a lacy comfort bra from bigw which looks a bit hideous but who knows.

Some bras are quite expensive so if they hurt youve done your dough.

Thanks ladies, good to know.  I have tried doing something but .... !!  😂
I have found many places are good in the capital cities but regional or rural ...... !
The only provider in Ballarat is absolutely useless with fitting and supplies.

    @MicheleR

I just did a search and found this post talking of Adelaide contacts

    Hi,

I have a prosthetic and bras. They hurt. The scar tissue is a bit painful around ribs.

Im just trying to deal with a bralette type arrangement without prosthetic.  I have some good crop tops that have a long body from lorna jane but they are pretty thick for everyday wear. I have a front opening aomena in beige. I have some bonds crops.

Im just looking for sonething a bit nicer in crop top style to get me through for a bit

Hi @MicheleR Not sure where in SA you are but there are some good places.  I believe the shop in Marden Shopping Centre are excellent - someone told me that she is willing to put the closed sign on so mastectomy customers have privacy but I can't verify that.  There's also a shops at Blackwood and Burnside that carry a range of products.  SA Mobile Breast Care will come to your home with Amoena products and they have regional days - Broken Hill, Port Pirie, Whyalla, etc.  If you don't want full-on prosthetics, you can use a soft-form or I think one of the community organisations down at Victor make knitted knockers.  Do be aware though, particularly if you're a bit larger breasted, it's important to balance the weight to avoid back issues.

    Hi,

Im not really bothered by being a uniboober. The issue really is that bra waist band fit poorly on me because i have a budda belly and i have sensitivity under my mastectomy scar. They roll up painfully.  Also depending where band fits under arm can cause pain. Im also not able to do up the back clasp of a normal bra and some non clasp bras i have severe difficulty getting out of. My right arm is not very flexible.

Im a c cup and will hopefully get smaller as im doing more vigorous exercise. Im not experiencing back pain - coming up to 1 yr mark.

I can get away with a long line sports bra but some get quite warm and others are just ugly.

Its not a big thing i just hoped to be able to wear something cuter and still comfortable.

It is comical when i go to see my breast surgeon because it takes me 10 minutes to get out of any bra. Sometimes its easier and less embarrassing to wear a camisole.

My breast surgeon is lovely and will help if required! Last time i saw him i was covered in zinc cream, different dressings etc from radiotherapy but he still wanted to look.

My breast care nurse suggested one website she said it’s good and reasonable. I have not bought a bra from it but it’s looking good.
    . Hope it helps. 😀

@MicheleR there is an Australian online one  https://www.kykthelabel.com/pages/about-us that have crop tops that look nice. I haven’t bought one though, I have trouble with putting that type on over my head. I’ve bought a front zipper one from Best and Less, and target had one that does up at the front. Functional not pretty.
