Anyone else just seen Greg Hunt announce $6.6 million for BCNA?! AND finally the news of funding mammograms from 40 - 74?!!!! I literally got GOOSEBUMPS.

Bloody brilliant.

And of course, women over 74 are already eligible too! ;)

Mammograms have been free from 40 since Bob Hawke brought it in in the 80's so I think this announcement is really misleading.  Hopefully what they are actually funding is advertising that it's free once you turn 40.

@JennyD78 - apparently the funding was covered 'free from 50' but those from 40 'could also attend' but wasn't readily advertised ..... so it is good that it is now 'a definite' as Breastscreen NSW has continually advertised for 50-74 FOREVER!

Many of us jump onto their false advertising and make it very clear that it is (and WAS available) from 40 and up (and not stopping at 74.)

Even today - they are STILL advertising from 50-74!!  Just took this from their FB page 2.30pm TODAY!!  UNBELIEVABLE!

Yes - thought it was rather misleading - easy way to get votes.

It was always available from 40-50 as well; free every two years if your doc had concerns. On the off year you had to pay yourself.
So yes, complicated and misleading  :|
