Barbie’s friend, Ken, has come out showing his breast cancer scar one year post surgery. Initially embarrassed, and diagnosed at a later stage, Ken had a radical mastectomy which involved removal of some pectoral muscles. He chose not to have reconstruction and just recently got a tat to highlight the fact that men get this disease too.

US artist Annie Dennison, co-founder of #breastcancerrealitycheck, is well-known for her creative work using Barbie Dolls to highlight the varying aspects of women dealing with breast cancer. Her work can be found on Instagram:

@traveltext that’s a pretty powerful image and worth displaying in female loos. It’s my belief blokes tend to be a bit slower off the mark to get medical help generally - maybe by opening women’s eyes to the problem too it may change this .

Good thinking, I'll share as well :)   Just to check @traveltext should that hashtag in the original post have a b for breast cancer, or is reastcancer a play on words?

@Mira, good spotting. Can't change it here, unfortunately.

I saved the barbie song to my ipod as a beachwalk sing along. The trouble is I cannot for the life of me remember the lyrics so I wrote them down and I walk along singing them. No matter how many times I sing it, chemo brain will not allow me to remember all of the lyrics by heart.

@Brenda5, your memory will improve with time.

What a song! "You can touch, you can play, If you say, I'm always yours". A classic and Ken's there too.
