hello ladies
was diagnosed w BC in January, been through 4.5 months chemo and now doing radiation. prior to this I used to run a bit and enter fun runs, and am keen to start training for a goal, I think, it seems a bit scary.. I'm thinking of Carman 2017 fun run in Melbourne. Probably aiming for 10 km.
However I would love to do it with others, supporting each other, even online, as we train for it?
It's a shame you only get the pink Tshirts or singlets if you do fundraising, happy to buy by own though, don't have energy for lots of fund raising yet! It seems too early ?! I'm still waiting for my eyebrows to grow back!
ideas? I'm in Geelong BTW
best

@Monicasfootsteps I am a runner as well, I go to parkrun on Saturday & register for events, the last being Run Melbourne, the one before being The Gold Coast Marathon n which I did the 5.7k event.
I continued to run right thru chemo determined to keep my life as normal as posible.
The Carmens Run is great & so is City2Sea unfortunatly or fortunately lol, this year, I will be overseas & unable to compete.
I say go for it girl....
I have Group competing in the Pink Triathlon in January, you would be most welcome to join us if you like.

Hi @Cate64
have a great trip overseas, and thanks for responding to my message. I recall back in February when I said I did the 42.2 last year you suggested that we could catch up at the Gold Coast. Glad to hear you went and did it0 -
Hi Monica, I'm also a regular runner & ran through chemo although it got very very slow & short towards the end. parkrun is awesome! You do need a goal to get back into & I can't think of a better one for you. I did the run Melb 10 last year as my first as I finished chemo in May 2016. It was hard but I did it & the finish was very emotional. I do recommend that you see a sport physiologist if you can as I found that my muscles & tendons needed work to get 'loose' & build back normal strength for running after chemo. You can get referred by your GP. I would love to join you in December, I'm in Altona. Cheers, Jane2
