Do you have any advice for new members on how to connect with their local communities? Here are some steps that we have found to be helpful. Consider the following:

  1. Who - Who would you approach?
  2. How - What steps do you need to take?
  3. Key messages - What are the messages you would like to share?
  4. Resources - What do you need?

For example if you wanted to connect with your local breast care nurse and discuss the My Journey Kit you could take this approach:

  1. Find out who the breast care nurse is and how to best contact her
  2. Meet with the breast care nurse, explain your role and how you can work together
  3. Explain the My Journey Kit and how it can help newly diagnosed women
  4. You will need a copy of the My Journey Kit and promotional flyers

How do you go about connecting with your local community? Do you have any tips that you could share with others?

I Have just completed the modules and I have found the process very helpful and supportive. Looking forward to an on going relationship with BCNA. BCNA are doing a great job in getting information out there for a whole range of people.
