Take some time to care for one another

This week we wanted to focus on taking some time to care for one another. I hope that everyone took some time to read Steph's blog post titled 'RUOK' - Sometimes we forget how such a simple question can have a huge effect. So please take some time to ask yourselves as well as those around you - R U OK?.

As Fiona mentioned in her blog post 'Feeling flat', going through treatment can be incredibly draining. So please take some time to look after 'you' this weekend, whether that means treating yourself to something nice, going into nature or just taking a long relaxing bath.

If you have any suggestions to help Anita with her sleep difficulties, please comment on her post 'Sleep deprivation'.

Online network update: We have the following fixes/improvements to the online network:

  • Reset profile - A number of users accidentally pressed the 'Reset' button which displayed when editing your online network profile. So, we have removed this option to ensure there are no accidental removals.
  • Online groups member search - There's a new search function within the online groups. This is probably more helpful for group facilitators but either way you can now search for members of a specific online group. Have a look at the 'Partner Support' group as an example and type 'Daina' into the search - https://www.bcna.org.au/online-network/groups/partner-support-1/members
  • Styling improvements - you may notice some small styling fixes across the site to ensure the site is as accessible as possible.

So, some good wins this week!

For those of you who I have had contact with over the months/years, you'll be happy to know I am now 34 weeks pregnant and will be off on Maternity leave as of next week. But be assured the online community has a great support team ready to go with JessicaDanti, Ann-Marie Pistikakis and our weekend moderator Bonnie all on board to continue the support this network provides. :-)

Enjoy your weekend and I will touch base with you next week. xx

Cheers,
Daina

Take care of you Daina. All the best to your & your partner for the coming arrival of your bundle of joy.

I'm currently taking care of my dad who has been in hospital for 3 weeks & will likely be discharged into my care for a few days before going home.

We all lead a busy life. But you are so right, to be able to help others, you need to take a little time out to look after yourself. I'm going to have an early night with a good book.

Hi Deb, thanks for the well wishes :-) We are getting excited now. I hope all goes well with your Dad once he has been discharged as it sounds like there will be some challenges for your and your family ahead - but a good book may distract you even if it is for a moment. xx

Thanks Robyn for your kind words :-) As you know I have put a huge amount of myself into building this online network up over the past 5 years and I am humbled every day to see the power of our members stories and connections (what ever stage) and the amount of support, love and compassion you all show for one another - having walked the path before! Thank you! xx
