Blog Post
Hi there,
Thank you so much for the warm welcoming, it’s so nice. I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer at the end of November 2021, in my right breast. As positive as I’ve tried to be about it all, I knew that this lump had felt different to the two previous benign lumps. I’m 40 years old, in good health & there is no family history of breast cancer. I’m single & don’t have any kids & I’m a Kindergarten Teacher. Thankfully I caught it early & my surgeon keeps on reminding me about this as he tells me, “I can’t emphasize enough how good it is that you caught it early” I’ve had the tumor removed in December & I’m thankful it hasn’t spread further. My surgeon performed a lumpectomy & a wide local excision, to form a clear margin which then showed pre cancerous cells - this has been detected in two procedures that he has done. I was then left with another big decision - to have another wide local excision or to have a mastectomy.
I went & saw him today & I’ve chosen to have a mastectomy done. I believe that this is the best & safest choice for me. My surgery will take place within 2 to 6 weeks. Then I will speak with the oncologist to determine the next course of treatment. I’m feeling hopeful and positive - I have a great medical team and plenty of support from family and friends.
Stay strong everyone & all the very best of luck to you all ♥️♥️
