Hi, I’m a 47 yr old mother of 3 (24, 13 and 12). I moved to Whyalla in March this year to work as a Principal of a public school. My youngest two moved with me and we were planning on all being there as of Oct/Nov this year. We’d even bought a small house! On Aug 31st I felt a lump in my left breast and, having gone to the GP, was then sent to the Whyalla hosp for an ultrasound which turned into a mammogram and biopsy. No one who felt it thought it was a cyst. I then spent the weekend freaking out, my mother came to help out and my husband soon after. Needless to say, a month later I find myself back living in our Adelaide home, no longer even wanting to persue a country adventure. I’ve had a lumpectomy (following the usual CT scan, bone scan and MRI) and start chemo on Tuesday for approx 5 months, followed by radiotherapy and hormone treatment. I have been overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness and kindness of all involved l, from the diagnosis to the surgery and follow up. This site hasn’t been an amazing support. Now to get the next 6 months out the way and get back to a new normal. Member
