We have received many positive messages following the ‘Fear of Recurrence’ webcast.  Thank you to everyone who tuned into our webcast last week which addressed what happens when treatment ends, recognising and managing the fear of recurrence.  If you missed it click here

COVID-19 vaccine for people with cancer

We have recently started to receive some calls and emails regarding the COVID-19 vaccine and how it might affect people with breast cancer.  See information below from Cancer Council Victoria’s latest newsletter.

‘The Cancer Australia COVID-19 Vaccine and Cancer Roundtable on 19 February was an important event to bring experts together to explore the policy, advocacy, health and research implications of the Australian Government’s vaccine rollout. It also provided an opportunity to establish a unified position to champion the needs of people affected by cancer.’

We understand that as result of this forum, Cancer Australia will be developing some Frequently Asked Questions regarding the vaccine, specific to people affected by cancer, which we hope will be available within the next two weeks.  Once released I will make sure this is available via the online network.  In the meantime, if you are after information regarding the COVID-19 Vaccine, the best source of information is the Department of Health’s websiteYou can also contact your state Cancer Council on 13 11 20.

Another great way Red Energy is supporting BCNA

In December 2020, BCNA Major Partner Red Energy introduced a unique way to power BCNA with the Red BCNA Saver Plan.

When you sign up as a residential customer to Red BCNA Saver plan, Red Energy will contribute up to $10 every month to BCNA.  That’s $5 for electricity and $5 for gas accounts for every month that you remain on the Red BCNA Saver plan up to the value of $120 each year*

This week’s reflective quote

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
