So after having a bad experience with co- BCNA local I got very disillutioned with the fact that some people think they "own" cancer in small towns instead of embracing new, younger and fresh ideas.
Unfortunately I have now been diagnosed with secondary cancer (bone matases) and feel I need support through this.
I loved being a BCNA representative and especially a on-line champion. I still did a fundraiser this year and was very pleased to meet Jacques on his tribute ride around Australia and he joined our Younger Womans Cancer Support Group for lunch. We are under the Cancer Council banner but love supporting BCNA. Unfortunately Geraldton is still very divided and nothings changed with the "others" that have had the run of all cancer for 20 odd years and I refuse to be upset by their narrow minded, self promotion (only see the same 2 faces in the paper year after year- bit sad for the other woman that turn up to support them!!) but I will still silently continue to promote all causes that help locals get through their various stages of diagnosis. Look forward to touching base with fellow woman fighting the disease and the bullshit of small town syndrome, love to all xx Kaz
