Tyrosine supplement for low thyroid
Hello all - I am 1.5 years clear of cancer ER, PR+. I stopped Tamoxifen after 1 year as the side effects were pretty bad for me. I recently had my thyroids checked as i have gained ~4 kg in 1 month - something I had never done except with Tamox. All normal, but T3 on the border of non-normal low (11). Someone suggested taking tyrosin (I am looking at ThyroPlex Bioceutical - 500mg thyrosine). Will this be a risk in driving increased hormones that could cause a BC recurrence? Wading through stuff on internet is very confusing!81Views0likes2CommentsThyroid and Breast Cancer
This message is for Arpie. Could you perhaps let me know the name of your specialist. I have not come across ANY doctor who understands thyroid problems or even thinks that perhaps there may be a connection between both medical issues. I put on weight (which I can ill afford to do) when I took Tamoxifen and drs. told me it doesn't do that but it did to me. I stopped taking it after one year because the side effects made my life not worth living. I have been off it almost 1 year now - no weight gain - and I don't want to take it again. Also, my GP just looks at the TSH, T4 and T3 and says "normal - all good" but I know that it is not. I was diagnosed in July 2017 and had surgery to remove the lump and 6 weeks radiotherapy. Now I just wait and hope that it will never reoccur. I would just like to have a doctor who understands that "normal range" is not a one size fits all and also understands how breast cancer can affect a person going forward.181Views0likes10CommentsThyroid link?
Hi ladies, Apologies I don't get on here much but I hope everyone is well. I am currently unwell with a virus and have a feeling of something stuck in my throat. They said it was just due to my inflamed esophagus with the coughing etc but I maintained that it feels different to that and that something is stuck. They finally caved and sent me for CT scan (to shut me up) and that came back with no foreign body BUT incidental finding of an enlarged thyroid. So yesterday I had thyroid bloods and an ultrasound and the sonographer was very much like "when are you seeing your Dr? This report will be ready first thing in the morning, have they done bloods? Be sure to make an appointment as soon as both results are ready" so of course that got me a bit worried. Phoned my Drs office to ask when bloods would be back, the receptionist dismissed me saying our process is to text you if you need to come in. When I said about them needing both report and bloods she just said "our process is different" and hung up! I told my husband all this and he said "Not to be pessimistic but is there a link between breast and thyroid cancer?" Which of course there is slight evidence for. This virus is 1 hell of a nasty 1, only time i remember being this unwell is after the neulasta injections with chemo, my whole body hurts! Doesn't help that my 4 year old is also unwell and hubby is trying to look after us both, run us to Drs, cook and keep up his own work (his boss doesn't seem to understand family prioroty). Sorry for my whinge, Here's hoping the enlarged thyroid is just from the virus xxx471Views0likes21Comments
