After 5 years closer to kissing this thing goodbye!!!
Hey All!! Well Negative Genetic Testing results last week and today my Surgeon catchup. He's ecstatic with the results and it takes a double mastectomy off the table. He said both times i have had aggressive treatment and particularly with Chemo this time, so I am all Clear. Next stop referred to a Plastic Surgeon to discuss the mastectomy and reconstruction. It wont happen til next year he said. but once that is done and complete, I can put these past 5 years to rest now. This is my last piece and amazing isnt it in the thick of it all you cannot see the end or the light at the end of the tunnel...but now I see it...feeling super blessed! TWice was twice too much!!!! The long wait is over and my BRCA 1 & 2 results have come back NEGATIVE!!!! OMG!!!!! I so needed Good News after my 5yr journey and recurrence. Tears of joy...so my decision is concrete now and am choosing only 1 mastectomy with Diep Flap reconstruction. Breast Surgeon next week to discuss results and make plans. I can breathe today...very emotional...Melinda
Molecular Breast Imaging
Is it only me who hadn't heard about this imaging??? I came home from work and my mum told me about Molecular Breast Imaging - which can be used for ladies/men with dense breast tissue or who have implants or scar tissue and can have a higher diagnosis rate than standard imaging such as mammogram. I didn't know anything about it but had already been notified that I was no longer able to be seen by breast screen due to my mastectomy and implant. I have to say that this has made me feel a lot more confident as I now know I won't be relying solely on ultrasound for results.
