Volunteer for Pink Bun campaign
Do you, or someone you know, have time between now and the end of May to support Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA)’s biggest fundraiser? We are looking for people to help coordinate Pink Bun Campaign Volunteers with events at Bakers Delight bakeries from May 1st to 21st, 2025. The role involves working with other BCNA volunteers in your community and Bakers Delight bakeries, with support from BCNA staff. People who enjoy talking to others and are comfortable with basic computer skills can apply here to register their interest. Please forward this link onto anyone you know who might be able to help. We are especially looking for support in NSW, the ACT QLD, and WA. Funds raised though the Pink Bun Campaign are vital to BCNA’s ability to support Australians affected by breast cancer. If you don’t have the availability to support BCNA in this role, please keep an eye out for details on how you can support the campaign with a spare hour or two. Hello Online Network members! This year as part of the Bakers Delight and Breast Cancer Network Australia Pink Bun campaign some of the creative will be featuring a montage of headshot photos of our members to demonstrate how wonderful, delightful and diverse we all are. If you are interested, we would love for you to be a part of this montage. Please do not worry, we will not be splashing your image all over billboards or all of a sudden you become Australia’s Next Top Model, it really is a mosh up of a myriad of images similar to the below which we did recently for the Roundtable in Canberra. We would love for people from our Online Network to be involved so please feel free to give it a go and selfie away through the link! https://elisecittadini.typeform.com/BDPinkBunSelfie though unfortunately we don’t have a lot of time and I will need these images as soon as possible. Please note, we ideally need you in a white shirt so before you start logging in, please don the white 😊 Any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out helpline@bcna.org.au and I look forward to seeing you all in this wonderful campaign.71Views4likes0CommentsPink Bun Fundraiser - Launceston Tasmania

Dear members, We know that breast cancer doesn’t just affect the woman or man who has been diagnosed – it has a ripple effect on partners, children, friends, colleagues and all loved ones. This year more than 17,000 Australian women and 144 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer, making the need for support and credible, evidence-based information more important than ever. That’s why, with the support of our long-standing partners, Bakers Delight, we’re calling on the Australian community to give breast cancer the finger bun! (In this picture: @AngelaLucia, @L4N, @tiffanybarbra, and @SKate.) From 11 May to 31 May 2017 pop into your local Bakers Delight and buy a Pink Bun to support all Australians affected by breast cancer. This year you can also: Support the campaign by buying a special Bakers Delight Pink Bun carry bag. Purchase a Pink Lady silhouette and write a message of support to be displayed in your local Bakers Delight bakery, or make a donation in the tins on the counter. Get your workplace, school, social or community group involved by hosting a Pink Bun Party. On registration, BCNA will send you a Pink Bun Party pack free of charge, containing everything you need to turn your party pink! Register your Pink Bun Party here! The money that Bakers Delight bakeries raise during the Pink Bun campaign funds essential BCNA services, including the My Journey Kit, our information pack, which is provided to people when they are first diagnosed with breast cancer. Each year we send out more than 12,000 My Journey Kits free of charge. We are excited to see everyone get involved in the campaign again this year, and we are also inviting you to share your support on social media using #givebreastcancerthefingerbun. You can read more about the campaign here. We are very thankful for the support of Bakers Delight and the community every year, and want to thank everyone for helping us to give breast cancer the finger bun!131Views0likes2CommentsFriday Update

Hi everyone. It's time for another Friday Update. Community Highlights We have 24 new members. A warm welcome to Last, Rockette, sparker66, and all the new members. This week we had 74 posts and 418 comments. Here are some interesting and thoughtful posts you might have missed: Post chemo blues Hormone therapy Reflections We've been seeing a lot of spam in the online network lately. We have measures in place to prevent spam robots from getting through the registration process, but these other spammers are actual people. They register, verify their accounts, log in, some of them even complete their profiles, and then post spam, usually overnight. We are working with our web developers on finding ways to block them without it affecting users like you and me. In the meantime, if you spot spam, help us out by clicking on that Report button that appears under every post and comment. Thanks very much for your patience. We're also working with our developers to bring a big improvement to the online network around how comments are displayed beneath posts. You know how they keep getting narrow? Yeah, we're working on fixing that. Stay tuned! In other news, you might notice that all BCNA staff members who are also members of the online network are clearly identified in our user names. This is to give you a better sense of who's who in the online network. BCNA News & Events Pink buns are here! Help us sprinkle some change. From 21 April to 11 May nearly 600 Bakers Delight bakeries will donate 100% of the sale of Pink Buns to BCNA in support of all Australians affected by breast cancer. So, get out and have a pink bun, or just say 'thanks' to the staff the next time you're in Bakers Delight. BCNA is planning to develop information resources in Greek and Chinese for people affected by secondary breast cancer. We are looking for people diagnosed with secondary breast cancer (i.e. whose breast cancer has spread to other parts of the body) and their family members to participate in focus groups which will help guide the development of these new resources. If you are from a Chinese or Greek speaking background and you are living with secondary breast cancer or support someone who is we would love to hear from you. Please contact BCNA research coordinator, Riki Long, on (03) 9805 2585 or via email rlong@bcna.org.au for more information and to get involved. That's pretty much it, I think. I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend at home reading a book I just picked up from the library earlier - Cloudstreet by Tim Winton. What are you up to this weekend? I’m thrilled to announce that the 2016 Pink Bun Campaign begins this Thursday. From 21 April to 11 May nearly 600 Bakers Delight bakeries will donate 100% of the sale of Pink Buns to BCNA in support of all Australians affected by breast cancer. In a world where we so often see only a small proportion of the dollar go to the charity, the Pink Bun Campaign is unique and truly deserves to be celebrated! Last year’s record-breaking campaign raised almost $1.8 million for BCNA, allowing us to continue providing free information, support and services to those affected by breast cancer. You can support this year’s Pink Bun Campaign by visiting your local Bakers Delight and purchasing a Pink Bun (or two!). Find your local Bakers Delight bakery here: http://www.bakersdelight.com.au/bakery-locator I’m also delighted to announce there is more than one way you can support the campaign; you can purchase a Pink Lady silhouette and leave a tribute or message of support for someone that will be displayed in your local Bakers Delight, buy a Mother’s Day card for $5 or $10 with all proceeds going directly to BCNA, or make a donation in the tins in your local bakery. You can also help us spread the word! We are inviting the social media savvy to post a picture of how they have chosen to enjoy their Pink Buns, use the hashtag #pinkbunsmyway and tag BCNA (Breast Cancer Network Australia on Facebook, @bcnapinklady on Instagram or @BCNAPinkLady on Twitter). We are looking forward to seeing how you enjoy your Pink Buns and we will be sharing the most authentic and creative posts on our own social media channels throughout the campaign. Thank you in advance for supporting the Pink Bun Campaign and we look forward to seeing your posts on social media!
