Recon with expanders wk 7
Hi warriors just wanted to ask if anyone had pains post 6 wk mark with expanders? I’m at wk 7 now and fully expanded and for the past 4-5 days have been experiencing dull but almost constant pain under my R boob (foob) not sure if I’ve been over doing it with my stretches or lifting heavy stuff and maybe pulled something. It’s in one spot and doesn’t move. No changes in the look of the breast. Having to take Panadol and ibuprofen a couple times each a day. Any ideas or advice welcome. I don’t see my PS for a couple weeks. x
recovering from double mastectomy with Bella's help!
So I had my double mastectomy recently with expanders put in at the same time (photos to follow in 'Choosing breast reconstruction' when I am a bit further along) for reconstruction and when they examined the breast tissue afterwards they found more DCIS, 10cm in total and I was small breasted! and in the other breast which was a prophylactic mastectomy they found lobular cancer so thank goodness I had the double mastectomy. The operation went very well and the Doctors and Nurses were brilliant. This made me laugh :) . My husband took this picture of me and my Poodle Bella sleeping after coming home from the hospital. She stole my lovely Zonta cushion given to me in hospital after my second lumpectomy and much appreciated since <3. I was in hospital for a week in the end after the double mastectomy waiting for one of the drains to ease up. Being diagnosed with breast cancer feels like living in a nightmare so I hope this makes you smile and sending love and strength to all you lovely ladies and men in your breast cancer journey :* <3 xxx
Air Expanders and plane travel
Hi there, I have had a mastectomy 4 weeks ago and I have an air expander. I have not expanded it at all as i still am having issues with the nipple. We have a holiday planned in 6 weeks and I want to know of any one has had an experience of flying with an air expander. i have heard that it can be quite painful so i am a little worried of what to expect. Thanks
Mastectomy
Hi all, just a quick question... I was due to have a bilateral mastectomy with diep recon this Tuesday but cancer was found in nodes so they have decided to just remove right breast and put in expanders until treatment is complete. Was wondering what others peoples experience was with this surgery? Eg recovery time? How long in hospital? Pain? Thanks for all your wonderful words of wisdom xx
