I am inspired
Hello old friends and new. My wife was diagnosed with TNBC in June 2019. The whole world turned inside out and those dark days have changed both of us, but life goes on. They say time heals everything, and I don't know if that's true, but I have some exciting news I wanted to share with the community. She has been a physiotherapist for the last 20 years, and about ten years ago she started specialising in lymphoedema and post cancer rehab. As you all know, Cancer changes the way you feel about life, and that includes your work. She decided to do this some time ago, and now she has done it: she has opened her own Lymphoedema and oncology rehabilitation Physiotherapy clinic! I wouldn't exactly describe it as a labour of love, but she definitely wants to give back to the community and her over-riding goal is to provide this service to people who need it. There is a shortage of lymphoedema services where we live, and all over really. I just feel so much in awe of her and so proud to see how she is taking this new challenge on. I know that I benefited greatly from the support of this community and I wanted to celebrate this development with you all. Much love to all of you and yours.141Views0likes3CommentsRe: Updated/removed post
@Maree72 welcome to the club that none of us wanted to join. Some people don't know what to say. Here you will find people who care. As others have said, this journey is unique for each of us, but there will be people whose experience and advice will be useful to you. You've got this!46Views1like0CommentsRe: to biopsy or not
Get the biopsy done. We had to push back when the experienced, well respected GP advised there was no need and guess what? She was wrong. So it's not panic stations at all, but definitely get it done. If you were concerned enough to come here and ask the question it's clearly weighing on your mind and that alone makes it worth it.25Views4likes0Comments- 6Views0likes0Comments
My fundraiser #55squats
Today is the first of March. That means 55 squats a day, every day to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. As many of you know, this is a cause close to my heart after my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. Why 55? Because every day in Australia 55 people are diagnosed with breast cancer. I have no doubt that this disease can be eradicated given enough resources and collaboration within the medical and scientific community. I know that fellow bcna members know very well the impact a diagnosis has. #55squats My fundraising target is humble. I am confident that I can smash it with your help. No contribution is too small! You can elect to sponsor me for a whole day ($55) or nominate a rate per squat, or just pay any old amount as a one off. You could even register for the challenge yourself. Hey - it's an excuse to skip leg day! All donations are tax deductible. https://fundraise.nbcf.org.au/event/the-55-squat-challenge/fundraisers Look me up: Zaid Al Samaraie And lastly I wanted to say that I love you more than I can say, Shannon.96Views1like0Comments
