Hi @kimw71, Lots of good advice already so I will just say that you sound a very positive person who will be able to cope. Take it one step at a time and trust your oncology team. Don't worry too much at the moment about your friend response, they may be in shock too and just not sure what to say. True friends will come back, and you will have many more here for support. Cancer is a tough diagnosis and it takes a while to get your head around it for everyone. As Arpie suggested listen to the Dr Charlotte Tottman's podcasts, they are really helpful and can put your mind at ease. Hi @SlimTee, I had the same as you and it’s a shock with tough decisions to make. I had been on HRT for many years before my DCIS of 17mm and IDC of 7mm was diagnosed, E & P positive HER2 negative. My GP who gave me my biopsy results said to stop HRT instantly which I did. I had no drastic side effects just menopause symptoms, that became gradually more noticeable after about 3wks, they can’t be avoided but weren’t too bad, for me. After surgery, luckily no chemo just radiation followed by Aromatase Inhibitors. Hot flushes worse than expected now and GP monitoring calcium levels but better than cancer returning, I think. If you’ve been told no more HRT I doubt your GP will give you any more prescriptions as your body would use the eostrogen to make more cancer cells. Arm yourself with all the facts from your surgeon and oncologist then talk it over with your breast care nurse or family. Menopause isn’t pleasant but neither would more cancer be. I used QV as recommended by the radiation nurse but my skin cancer doctor said MooGoo was better. I used both in the end 2-3 times a day and still got painful radiation burn that didn't come out until after radiation stopped. My radiation nurse just said more cream 6-8 times a day, but in the end my GP gave me a mild steroid cream. She said it was because I have fair skin. So I hope you don't have fair skin and that the MooGoo works really well. Hi @Cazza_61, So sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I was surprised too when Oct '23 BreastScreen WA gave me the all clear for next 2 years but 3 days later I had a chest CT for an infection which suggested a biopsy of the breast needed as a by-the-way. I wasn't worried (having been cleared by the breast screen) so finished some other heart tests I had at the time and a few weeks later had an ultrasound and a biopsy that found a 1cm possible cancer, then 1 week later turned into 2 cancers, a .7cm IDC and a 1.7 DCIS. I asked my surgeon were they fast growing tumours to be missed in Oct. then picked up a few days later on CT, her answer was dense breast tissue (which I didn't know I had) often hides cancer on mammogram, but not to worry as I wasn't going to be having "that kind of mammogram ever again". So as Arpie said, it's Breast Screening is only a guide that doesn't pick up all the details up. I was lucky to have had a great radiographer, but I think really only surgery with a good surgeon and a good pathologist can do that. Hi @Stillstanding, Sorry to hear you've had to join the group. I had my surgery back in February and I was given ice packs the same day and told to use them at home if needed. So given that, I think you've waited long enough for some relief, just make sure you wrap the ice pack and don't put it directly on the skin without doing that. Hi @Denhamia, So sorry to hear of your diagnosis and the medical tests you have had to endure so far. You sound like a strong woman who is going to knock this BC on the head and do all you can to keep it at bay. Take each day as it comes and allow yourself to rest and have a good cry when you need to, let family take over the day to day as much as you can. Hi @GorgyS, so glad to hear you have made it through radiation. You have a tough choice ahead of you, I haven't even heard of Cambria-2. I guess the best thing to do is read all the research and trials info, and then discuss it with your family. Hi @CathL , @Locksley and @lolasmum , I had a lumpectomy on my smaller breast so felt even more lop-sided. I found an online company that do a whole range of beautiful bras and have a very informative website for sizing, and for a prothesis if needed, they also do appointments online (video I think) for advice. Have a look at https://www.erilan.com.au/ They make a good range of pretty and comfortable front opening bras too, even front and back opening on the same bra. I know the prices may seem a little more than you may have spent on a bra before (it was for me) but after going through breast cancer you deserve a little luxury, if possibly only one bra at a time.
