Going flat
Who has decided to go totally flat after a DMX? Did you have a breast surgeon or did you also have a plastic surgeon for an Aesthetic Flat Closure (Afc)? Decided on flat rather than DIEP or implants as I have lobular breast cancer so chance of Ca returning high Very nervous that my surgery will be messed up- I’d like the smooth chest like when I was a pre adolescent girl but it’s all up to surgeon

Stage 2b invasive lobular cancer of L breast. double mastectomy bad for Oct 6th- was initially offered DIEP but after two strokes, hoke in heart repair and 6 months chemo I’ve decided body had enough and needs to repair. I don’t want to go thru op after op fixing up issues from DIEP (necrosis etc) implants too. I’ve decided to embrace the flat brigade- I asked my surgeon for Aesthetic Flat closure- a form of reconstruction of the chest wall at the time of mastectomy, so my chest will be smooth and flat, no dog ears, no concave - I hope. eventually a tattoo acros scar would anyone here kindly share their pic please?.

Hi ladies dmx and going flat ( AFC) oct 6 unless an earlier date arises. What items should I have for hospital stay? Does hospital supply the chest binder? Do I need to supply drain holders ? Etc Due to underlying health issues I’ve asked to stay in hospital 2-3 days bfore going home

DMX oct 6 saw breast surgeon and told him I’ve decided not to have planned DIEP Flap and instead would like an Aesthetic flat closure. (AFC) surgeon is Dr Wei Min Ooi at Austin Hosp Melbourne. Dr hadn’t heard of this procedure so I had to show pics and explain- I also said I didn’t want dog ears or concave result. I asked for a neat flat chest. Now I’m concerned thinking he didn’t know what the procedure was- should I ask for plastic surgeon to do this form of reconstruction?

hi everyone just finished 6 months chemo, DMX scheduled for Oct 6- was initially getting DIEP flap but after soul searching and research decided on going flat- I spoke with my surgeon and told him my decision - which he feels is wise based on my recent health(2 strokes, hole in heart repair and chemo all in last 12 mths) my concern is he hasn’t heard of AFC and I truly would like a one op no more., smooth no dog ears operation. Should I insist on having a plastic surgeon do the AFC? My breast surgeon is Dr Wei Amin OOI at Austin hosp Melbourne. Anybody else have reviews on his work? ,
