Mastectomy pain
Hi everyone I’m day 10 from double mastectomy with some skin saved for reconstruction. I have pain on both underarms and the cuts are so tight.. they are at the bottom of breast straight across and under arms.. How long till pain gets better?? I see surgeon next Tuesday do they take the waterproof tape off then? The under arm that’s sore is the one I had radiation on 6 years ago and 3 lymph nodes.. I don’t think things are draining properly as I have a small seroma there as well.. 🤷🏻♀️136Views1like4CommentsRe: Delayed DIEP reconstruction
Hi @Julez1958 thank you for reply.. Makes sense I am an F cup and wanting a C as well he wants me 68 as well he just didn’t explain any of that to me last week and left me feeling confused. My radiation was 6 years ago so not sure why he’s worried about that side.. yes I want mine out to as I can feel it there and just hate it.. my surgeon said it’s small 2 c/m so for me not to panic but just can’t help thinking about it in there for that long.. I have appointment with breast surgeon tomorrow afternoon so hopefully he can explain better what the plastic surgeon couldn’t x7Views0likes0CommentsDelayed DIEP reconstruction
Hi there I saw breast surgeon 2 weeks ago who told me I was a candidate for DIEP reconstruction after double mastectomy. As this is a second cancer in other breast I just want them gone. I had to see plastic surgeon last week. Who wants it done in 2 surgeries. First the mastectomy leaving a flap of skin at bottom of each breast then 2-3 months later after healing the DIEP flap reconstruction he said he would use the flap of skin that is left to start the reconstruction.. I’m so confused as to why he kept talking about my right breast that had had radiation 6 years prior.. then proceeded to say I had a little too much upper stomach fat and to lose 7 kilos before the surgery. I’m 75 kilos and a BMI of 27. I asked how do I lose it just there in upper stomach.. His offsider said you will lose 3-4 kilos after your breasts come off.. I said that doesn’t make me feel better he wants it off my stomach.. I’m so deflated I don’t think they can fit me in for surgery before Xmas so if I get done early January it will be 2 months the tumour has been growing. Anyone had a similar story with delayed reconstruction? X155Views0likes4CommentsRe: Second time
Hi @iserbrown I had appointment at other breast surgeon yesterday. I’m opting for DMX with DIEP flap reconstruction. I’d love the easier way with expanders and implants but Having been radiated on my right side 6 years ago my whole chest and under arm as well it’s likely not to take very well. So the 10 hr surgery it is 😳30Views0likes0CommentsSecond time
I’ve just finished appointment with my oncologist he was truly shocked I have another cancer in my other breast. It’s exactly same type as last time IDC HER2- and ER positive. I’ve been on tamoxifen for almost 6 years he said I was in the 3 %where tamoxifen doesn’t work. He said I’ll probably have surgery then look at changing to another Hormone blocker.. I’ve had a full hysterectomy.. He said 5 % of oestrogen is carried in our fat cells. I train everyday at gym to keep my weight down it just sucks. See breast surgeon tomorrow with a plan for surgery hopefully in the next few weeks.381Views0likes8CommentsSecond time
Hi everyone it’s been a long time I’ve been busy moving states babysitting grandkids and work! Living life to the fullest. Had my annual scans last Monday and bam after 6 years I have a new cancer in second breast.🥹 first cancer In right breast was IDC grade 1 stage 1, pr and pg positive her2-lumpectomy, 6 weeks radiation and tamoxifen. Had full hysterectomy 2 years ago. I see breast surgeon next Tuesday I’m just so deflated. As far as I know from biopsy it’s same a R breast was IDC but don’t know anything else. The waiting is unbearable and I just don’t know what steps come first I’m presuming surgery first.. I want a double mastectomy. Any info if you’ve been down this rd will be awesome xx289Views0likes9Comments
