@cactusk, so happy you don’t need to have chemo. My results came back that chemo would only give me a 3% improvement, but radiation was 90%. Talk about “phew” lol. I wish I was only doing 15 sessions, I would be half way through by now. I don’t know if they mentioned holding your breath during treatment or not, I can go 50 seconds now, could barely do 25-30 when I first started practicing. Ask about it at your mapping. Time is weird at the moment, diagnosis seems so long ago, other days, seems like yesterday. Good luck with your treatment. Hope you get some relief with the menopause clinic. I’ve found the low dosage anxiety medication has helped me. Hasn’t helped with the hot feeling on my chest and side though from treatment. @Cindi the hot flushes were doing my head in after stopping HRT. @arpie and @Blossom1961 Thank you for your kind words. I’ve already started moisturing, hoping for my skin to be in the best condition before starting radiation. Having a rest day today as I just can’t concentrate and would only be thinking on Tuesday when I’m back in the office “where is xyz? “Why did I do that?”l I’ve spent the morning in the garden pottering around. UPDATE Hello. Surgery was a month ago now. Everything went well, surgeon removed tumour and one lymph node which showed no trace of cancer. Unfortunately at the one week checkup I was advised that pathology found cancer cells in the node and on the outside of the node. Radiology commences next week which will be targeting the whole side of my chest and underarm. Back working part time instead of full time this past week. Physically I feel fine, numbness under my arm and alongside my ribcage from nerve damage which just feels weird (unless I do some weeding like I did today and then it hurts) and shooting pains in my nipple started this week. What’s the go with that? Mentally I’m just burnt out and exhausted. I was alternating between tears and anger today and I just don’t even want to think about Christmas, which is my favourite time of the year. Anyone know how to make the font size larger on an iPad? Hope my spelling is okay as I can hardly see this to read it 😂7Views0likes0CommentsSteri Strips have come off after 3 days. Do they need replacing?
Hello again. I had surgery late on Wednesday for a lumpectomy and lymph node removal, the steri strips that covered the incision (dissolvable stitches) for the lymph node under my arm pit have come off. I can sympathise. I got a call back from a routine mammogram, second mammogram found a 2cm tumour. My world had been turned upside down, please know you’ll be okay. Lots of great advice here from the lovely ladies helped me. My appointment with the surgeon gave me all the facts and put my mind at ease, because at least then I had a plan. Not knowing what to expect was the hardest part for me. I decided on a lumpectomy and radiation. Surgery was on Wednesday. It’s a long day, yesterday pain wasn’t too bad. It’s slightly worse today. Not going to lie, it was a shock looking in the mirror after the operation, but not as bad as I expected. As the surgeon said, this is a lifesaving operation. @Julez1958 Luckily my hubby has been able to come to the appointments, I think with the first surgeon appointment we were both still in shock. I’ve written down some questions for this week’s appointment. Thank you for the reminder about the Charlotte Tottman podcast. I remember reading about her podcast but couldn’t remember her name. @Afraser I like the idea of referring to the scars as a badge of pride. @JJM I have no idea what I am doing on here lol. Hope your boys do well on their exams as well. Daughter is quietly optimistic as there were no “oh no, I didn’t study this” moments. All the best for your surgery. Will be thinking of you. @marg16 It was heartbreaking watching the shock on the kids faces. They are being very positive which is good. The hormone replacement made a world of difference to me, happier all round, less irritable, no hot flushes, no night sweats, felt like my old self again. Went back to the doctor and have been put on a mild antidepressant (which was offered as well as well as hormone replacement) wasn’t keen to take an antidepressant if I wasn’t depressed, but it’s on par with the hormone treatment as far stopping all the menopause symptoms and it’s only been a week so far. First few days were a struggle, but good now. @Locksley I really wish this club that no one want to join didn’t need to exist. I’ve been told the tumour would have been there before I started hrt five months ago, but I had the same thought “have I made it worse?” As you said, it’s in the past, we need to move forward. Hi. Diagnosed mid October with invasive ducal breast cancer, early stage 2. Decided to have a lumpectomy followed by radiation. Surgery in two weeks and I probably should not have googled results when I couldn’t find anything about the outcome on this site. For those that have had a lumpectomy, does it leave you deformed? I’ve got a 2cm tumour at 2 o’clock. Is it keyhole or incision surgery? I have an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday, last visit was information overload and I only really heard half of what he said. TIA760Views0likes9Comments
