When do you start counting?!?

Hi All,
So was just wondering. When do you start counting so you can say β€œ1 year clear etc...) is it 1 year from surgery or 1 year after you stop all treatment??
  • I guess, technically, once the tumour is gone and the margins are clear you have no evidence of disease. Chemo and rads are ' just in case'. Or you  could start counting when you finish all your treatment.

I'm not game to count, this time. I feel like I'm holding my breath and I don't really want to keep track of how long I've been starved of oxygen.
  • I'm counting from surgery. But of course my aramatose inhibitor is for 5 years which was 6 months after that one chemo done.
  • I was told to start after surgery as I had no lymph nodes involved my scans were all clear and As i had a mastectomy. Margie xx
  • My surgeon and oncologist certainly count from surgery. I assume if you had chemo first you would still count from surgery.
  • Hi @lgray3911, my surgeon and oncologist count from my mastectomy and axillary clearance date. Heading into my 6th year, so got to be happy with that :)
