Thanks for the detailed response Christine. I do take on board many of your comments and repeat here that BCNA is to be congratulated for pioneering the degendering of this disease in so many ways.
However, here's some points of disagreement.
"While the past 20 years of BCNA have seen many changes an enduring image remains – that of the Pink Lady."
Could it not be suggested that the logo is out of date.
"A symbol of hope, strength and survival, the Pink Lady reflects our unwavering focus on the people affected by breast cancer, not the disease."
The disease does not have a gender, while the logo certainly does.
" It not only differentiates us from the other breast cancer organisations, it is fundamental to our identity. "
I believe other pink charities would suggest they have the same ethos.
"We continue to form the Pink Lady at important events such as the Field of Women, which will be held again in 2018. "
Yes, fine, this can surely continue with a new logo.
"We are very proud of our brand and what it has come to represent to all Australians affected by breast cancer."
The brand is excellent but it can be represented more inclusively. That's what women and men are saying in this discussion.
