Good evening everyone…I forgot to ask my surgeon this question. How soon can you return to exercise after a LATISSIMUS DORSI FLAP partial…it’s almost 7 weeks post surgery…Thank you xx

This will depend on how the surgery went and what you mean by 'exercise',  Best to ask your surgeon.   What is right for one person may not be the best for your particular circumstances.

    Hi yes everyone is different.
I saw a physiotherapist specialising in breast cancer  patients after my DIEP surgery ( she was referred by my breast care nurse) and she helped me with some very targeted exercises but also I went back to modified Pilates 8 weeks post surgery after checking with my surgeon.
I started walking as soon as I got home from hospital , a bit more each day .
I guess you know the benefits of exercise both mental and physical and there is research that regular exercise does help prevent recurrence.
    Take care 🌺

    Hi @Hendrix
”Struggling” is something all of us on here can relate to !
While everyone is different , there is no doubt that reconstructive breast surgery is major surgery and it takes time for the body to recover.
I felt very frustrated at times about the limitations on my ability to do things in the first few months but as time went by I got back to normal ( or should I say my “ new normal”).
I am now 10 months post surgery and do happy I did it .
