Third photo is Port Ellen on Harris and Lewis, home of Laphroiag, to which I am partial. The last one is Eilean Donan, the most photographed castle in Scotland. Trying to frame out the tourist hordes was tricky.
Attached is Venice, Amsterdam (the Jordaan area, full of little wooden bridges) and Oslo. And a sunset (Oban) for @kmakm.

Well, @Annie C and I are finally in Darwin, soaking up the sun - we started planning this get together last Sept and finally, we are here! We enjoyed dinner out last night with Annie C hubby (my hubby is in Sydney with his brother) and did the Parap markets today .... Mindel Markets are tomorrow night, if I have the energy!!
We are having so much fun, and really enjoying each other’s company, our senses of humour are almost identical! It seems like the time is flying already ..... I am just glad I wasn’t flying out of Sydney today, with many planes grounded due to the weather!
This arvo, I found a couple of nice muddies in the rock ledge in Darwin ..... a bigger one was in the same pond but it hid as soon as he saw me. This one looks smaller than he was! Definitely legal tho .... but I didn’t try to catch him.
Hoping to hook a Barra tomorrow - even if at a Barra Farm! I have a full day charter booked for next Wed, before flying out on Thurs.
The smaller onenhad lost lost one big claw .... and the remaining claw was huge!

Enjoy the markets. I know Mindil’s the big one (fantastic if you get skydivers) but I really like Parap. Best wishes to you both.1

@arpie and I are having a great time in Darwin. Found the Parap Village Markets this morning.
Still hasn't caught a fish yet, but I reckon it will be soon.
Being the fishing mad person that @arpie is, we found the best fishing tackle shop in Darwin. The guys in there loved her. They should do, arpie just about bought up the shop.

Used to love staying in the old Hotel Darwin on the esplanade. Such a shame it was demolished.0

Back in 1937 my mother travelled by car from Perth to Darwin with her friend and her friend's supposed Italian "Fiance". Imagine how adventurous that trip must have been. Took 3 months!
My mother's first job in Darwin was in the Hotel Darwin. She used to tell us that she was a Dining Room Maid NOT a Bar Maid! But, boy she knew how to pour a beer.
My parents were married in Darwin in December 1940. My mother and 3 week old sister were evacuated south on the "Koolinda", 19 December 1941. My father stayed as manpower for the building of Darwin's defences. He had just left the Darwin Post Office when the Japanese bombed Darwin on 19 February 1942.
My parents often spoke fondly of their time in Darwin and of the life they had prior to being evacuated. Sadly they never returned.
