Hello everyone,

Welcome to Fridays update.   It has been a busy couple of weeks at BCNA and
it’s hard to believe that we are almost in March. Where have the first two
months of 2019 gone!

A very big thank you to everyone that
voted to keep BCNA Ambassador Shane Crawford in the African Jungle!  What an absolutely amazing effort by Shane,
who took third place in this season’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here…We want to thank our whole community for
getting behind Crawf and BCNA and voting for him night after night.  The winner was Richard Reid who took home the
crown with the $100,000 prize money being donated to his chosen charity Beyond
Blue.   BCNA CEO Kirsten Pilatti thanked
Richard who donated $10,000 to BCNA on behalf of his new friends made in the
jungle.  BCNA will also receive a further donation from the proceeds of the phone calls.

Inspired Adventures

In just over a week’s time Marianne, along with sixteen other women will be trekking in Nepal to raise
money for BCNA as part of our Inspired Adventures.  They will be trekking the captivating countryside and visiting the
Neydo Monastery to learn more about Buddhism and ancient meditation techniques
from the monks who live there. Marianne has assured me that there will be photos
that I can share via the online network of her trek and adventure!  Wishing you all the best Marianne, look
forward to hearing about your adventures in Nepal!

There are more inspired adventures planned for this year. If anyone is
interested in attending, see below for information.

1.
Newly diagnosed with mets

Thread commenced by @Glynnis who recently
received the news that her breast cancer diagnosed 4 years ago had spread which
was news for Glynnis and her family.  It
was absolutely amazing to read the support provided to Glynnis from our online community
members at this very stressful time.
Hoping that you were able to enjoy your 60th birthday
celebrations and time away with your family Glynnis and wishing you all the
best with your treatment.

 2.
Survivor mode

Thread commenced by @Quote_Queen_67 who was
recently diagnosed with early breast cancer.
The initial shock and turmoil of the diagnosis while trying to stay calm
amidst everything is a very familiar scenario.    Quote_Queen_67 received some great support from
the online community and thanked everyone.

Thank you for all this support - I am feeling very cared for by total
strangers who have been on this journey. What an amazing group this is!

a fantastic thread!  The most recent post by @Blossom1951 is
hysterical!  Keep the Friday funnies
coming, they provides some much needed relief and have kept the moderation team
highly amused!

New
category for Survivorship Issues

As a result of the recent discussion thread titled ‘2 year all –clear,
2 year all-fear’ commenced by @InkPetal, we have added a new category to the
online network called ‘Now what?  The
highs and lows of survivorship’.  This
category highlights the ongoing emotional, physical, practical and social
challenges of survivorship.

The Australian Cancer Survivorship Centre based at the Peter MacCallum
Cancer Centre in Victoria aims to optimise the health and wellbeing of cancer
survivors and their carers.  They offer
resources for survivors and carers, with links to current events and other
community organisations that may be of assistance.

The state based Cancer Councils offer the Cancer Wellness Program (Wellness
and life after cancer, WALAC) which is for those moving from clinical treatment
to survivorship.  This program is a
supportive care program which aims to assist survivors to make the change from
clinical management to supported self-management.  To find a program in your state please call the
Cancer Helpline on 13 11 20.

This weeks reflective quote

The Inner Journey

Purifying the mind is not easy.  It takes a lot of time and hard work...  You need tremendous will power and determination right from the start, accepting that there will be many obstacles, and resolving that despite them all you will continue until you have attained your goal.

Dalai Lama

Hoping that you have a good weekend and are able to
make some time to do something for you.

I like the Dalai Lama quotes you put up Giovanna. I thought I would add a Bible verse.

Trust in the Lord on your long journey.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do no rely on your own insight.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Have a lovely week all :)
