Strange itch.

Many years ago I had axillary clearance with a mastectomy. Today I  have  the weirdest itch. I am numb where my lymph noes were removed so I  cannot scratch the itch, even though it is so very itchy.

@Patti J I get that as well occasionally as I am also numb from lymph node removal, it drives me bonkers.

I get it too, but on my foob. So strange. Itchy, so I scratch but I can't feel anything there so it still feels itchy. But how come, if I can't feel anything, I feel itchy? Is it the sensations of a few nerves left in the skin? Very odd.

It's the old nerve endings, sort of like the phantom pain or itches amputees get in their missing limb, my dad had his right arm amputated after a car accident and used to say it felt like his right hand was itchy at times.

Try scratching lightly nearby where you can feel. Sometimes it can help things. I have found with itchy wounds or skin conditions that are inflamed this can fool  the brain.
